Since inception in 2007, House of Thembiso provided care for babies who might otherwise have had no chance on survival.
House of Thembiso is a Project of the Executive Welfare Council of the A.F.M of S.A. and is registered with the Department of Social Development as a Child and Youth Care Centre (CYCC) to take care of up to 10 abandoned infants at a time.
At House of Thembiso we give these babies the love, care and attention they need, not just to survive, but to flourish as Thembiso in Xhosa means promise.
10 fulltime staff members ensure that there are always at least 2 carers on duty to attend to every need of the babies in our care.
Every measure is taken to ensure these babies develop on par with their milestones. We strive to give each baby the best medical care possible as and when needed. Government institutions are utilized in the event where private medical care becomes too expensive. Many private medical practitioners already support the project.
For the duration of their stay each baby are closely monitored and records are kept from every bottle feed right down to absolutely every activity for each baby. This is very important to ensure that nothing is missed.
Babies are taken into our care from government hospitals and stay with us until they can legally be placed with loving families, whether it is new forever families, foster care or back with biological family members.
Each baby deserves a loving home with a family that has their best interests at heart. In the meantime your support will give these babies in our care the love they deserve while they await their future families.
